If the allegation of grabbing temple land in Puducherry is proved, the state government has categorically told the Madras High Court that it will not spare anyone, including the BJP MLAs involved.
In Puducherry, the management of the temple filed a case in the Madras High Court seeking cancellation of the sale deed for the 64,000 square feet of land worth 50 crore rupees sold to a private company.
The case came up for hearing in the session of Justice SM Subramaniam.
The judge had directed the police department to file a report on the action taken against BJP legislator Jankumar.
Both the BJP MLAs have said that they are innocent and not involved in any crime and are ready to hand over the said property to the temple administration if it is proved that it belongs to the temple.
Examining the report filed by the police, the judge expressed shock that government employees were also involved in the sale of temple property to private individuals. Judge SM Subramaniam ordered action against the accused officers under the Prevention of Corruption Act, pointing to the assurance given by the Puducherry government and ordering the investigation to continue.
He ordered that the temple property, which is a public property, should be handed over to the temple administration immediately, as it is also the duty of the MLAs to protect it and face the CBCID inquiry, and adjourned the hearing on the petition for 6 weeks.
