The AIADMK has officially announced its withdrawal from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. A resolution to this effect was passed in a meeting of AIADMK district secretaries, MPs, and MLAs held today in Chennai.

A meeting was held today at the AIADMK head office in Rayapetta, Chennai, including Anna DMK district secretaries. General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami presided over this meeting.

The alliance with the BJP should be broken in this meeting. The majority of the district secretaries and former ministers said that they would form a mega alliance against the DMK under the leadership of the AIADMK. Half of the problem will be solved if the BJP is given the 20 seats it is asking for.

Therefore, there is no need to clash with the BJP. If you decide to clash like that, unnecessary confusion will automatically arise within the AIADMK. Some leaders are also saying that we cannot be responsible for that. Strong opposition has been expressed to such talks.

In this meeting, a unanimous resolution was passed to withdraw AIADMK from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. AIADMK also decided to contest Lok Sabha elections along with other parties besides the BJP.

AIADMK workers burst firecrackers to celebrate AIADMK breaking alliance with the BJP.
