Sources in the party say that a decision to break the alliance with the BJP may be taken at the AIADMK district secretaries’ meeting to be held tomorrow. Clashes continue in Tamil Nadu between the AIADMK and Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai. Recently, Annamalai criticised the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa, as a corrupt person, which created a big problem.
A consultative meeting of AIADMK district secretaries and administrators was held in Chennai on June 13. In that advisory meeting, a resolution of condemnation was passed against Annamalai. Annamalai replied that he was firm in his opinion about Anna. As a result, there is no BJP in the AIADMK alliance; the BJP is a wasteful, lax party; and the BJP’s senior leader, Jeyakumar, declared that the BJP cannot even pass the NOTA. This caused a great stir.
Sellur Raju gave an interview. AIADMK supports Modi as Prime Minister at the Centre. He said that the BJP should support Edappadi Palaniswami as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. But Annamalai raised the flag again, saying that the BJP will not support Edappadi Palaniswami as Chief Minister.
AIADMK leaders had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Natta in Delhi and decided to replace Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai. But it was said that Amit Shah did not spare time to meet AIADMK leaders.
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has convened another AIADMK district secretaries meeting in Chennai tomorrow. It is also said that a resolution to break the alliance with the BJP may be passed in the meeting of ADMK district secretaries to be held in Chennai tomorrow. At the same time, party sources say that only if Annamalai is changed, a conditional alliance with the BJP is possible.
