Former AIADMK member and ex-MP, K. C. Palanisamy, involved in an ongoing contempt of court case, has been summoned by the Chennai George Town Court for contempt against the former AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palanisamy.
In the past, as a political functionary of the AIADMK, K. C. Palanisamy was alleged to have offered documents against the law, collecting money unlawfully, and acted against the then AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palanisamy. He was facing legal action in the Chennai High Court on charges of defamation. In this case, expressing his opinions about himself, his reputation, and his credibility, K. C. Palanisamy had appealed for dismissal of the contempt case against him in the George Town Court in Chennai.
The court, after hearing the case, had postponed the decision in August. K. C. Palanisamy had requested a re-examination of the decision in the Chennai High Court, seeking to overturn this judgment. The High Court, reviewing the case, overturned the decision made by the George Town Magistrate’s Court to dismiss the contempt case against K. C. Palanisamy, and directed the continuation of the ongoing contempt case against him, against the former AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palanisamy.
In this context, when K. C. Palanisamy’s ongoing case was being heard at the Chennai George Town Court, Justice Thirumal, the judge handling the case, today decided to postpone the hearing to January 23rd, acknowledging the summons issued to Edappadi Palanisamy in the ongoing contempt case involving K. C. Palanisamy, and dismissed the trial for review.
