The unprecedented damage caused by the heavy rains that poured in Chennai for two days due to the Mick Jam cyclone. Three days after the rain stopped, the flood has not receded in most parts of Chennai. As a result, people are suffering inexpressible pain. Rescue and rehabilitation works are being carried out on a war footing in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts.
In the wake of the state government’s various measures to provide the necessary relief to the people affected by the floods, ministers are also expediting rehabilitation work in their respective areas.
In this context, Minister Sekarbabu went to meet the people of Vannarpet area in Chennai to provide relief and listen to their grievances. At that time, the people who surrounded him, saying “We are suffering with children, there is no food, no milk,” besieged him in anger. Minister Sekarbabu, who was struggling to understand who was saying what as everyone tried to speak at the same time, said, “Please tell me your grievances one by one.”
However, as everyone raised their voices at the same time, the place became a bit chaotic for a while. Following this, Minister Sekarbabu handled the situation patiently and explained the government’s ongoing work and left from there.
He ordered the safe evacuation of people from flooded areas by boats and vehicles, and took steps to provide the necessary assistance to the affected people immediately.
