Yesterday, between two groups in Perambalur’s granite quarry area, a conflict arose when the district collector K. Karthikeyam ordered the blasting of the granite quarry in Elam, near Perambalur.
The Superintendent of Police in Perambalur, AD, mentioned that yesterday (October 30th), the explosion of the granite quarry in Elam took place. To prevent the locals from entering the quarry to break rocks, security was increased, and they had to disperse the crowd. Some people had to flee to avoid the situation.
In the midst of the public gathering to reduce the crowd, the Collector Karthikeyam asked AD to visit the scene and take appropriate action. He also issued a warning to the authorities to ensure that those who had entered the quarry would be brought out immediately. Subsequently, the explosives were temporarily removed to control the situation.
Furthermore, the police departments confirmed that no cases were registered against those who entered the quarry yesterday evening. The granite quarry explosion is scheduled to take place today (October 31st) as per the official authorities’ notice.”
