The Chennai High Court has quashed the detention of Minister Ponmudi, who was detained from the property attachment case. The High Court has directed the release of Minister Ponmudi, who was detained in connection with the property attachment case. The High Court judges have stated that on the 21st of this month, a decision on the penalty will be announced regarding the property attachment case against Minister Ponmudi.

The case involving the attachment of property worth more than 36 lakhs due to income disparity had transferred from the Vellore Court to the Chennai High Court’s administrative authority. Following the examination of the case, the Vellore Court, which had imposed detention on Minister Ponmudi and his wife, concluded the matter in June. In response to this decision, the Chennai High Court itself intervened and ordered a re-investigation.

The Chennai High Court judge, Justice Anand Venkatesh, who previously took up the case as an inquiry against the property attachment case involving Minister Ponmudi and his wife at the forefront of the Vellore Principal Bench, conducted an inquiry last October related to the property attachment case brought forward as a petition in June.

In this case, Vellore Court judge presented his clarification. In the current situation, the Vellore Court judge’s explanation of the inquiry has led to agitation among Minister Ponmudi and his wife’s followers, resulting in demonstrations outside their residence, causing disturbances.

Judge Jayachandran, who heard the case against Minister Ponmudi in the Chennai High Court, opposed the Vellore Court judge’s clarification as biased. Similarly, in response to the Vellore Court’s request to transfer the case to the Chennai High Court, the Chief Registrar of the High Court directed an inquiry against the Vellore Court judge, accusing him of bias as an opposing party in the case involving Minister Ponmudi.

At present, following the Chennai High Court’s decision to overturn Minister Ponmudi’s detention regarding the property attachment case due to an excessive attachment of property amounting to 64.90 percent of his income, the details of the penalty will be announced on the 21st at 10:30 am, according to the judge.

On that day, Ponmudi was relieved of responsibility either through bail or on medical grounds by Justice G. Jayachandran. Currently serving as the Minister of Higher Education, Ponmudi faces the prospect of a penalty in the property attachment case, prompting concerns about the impending consequences of the penalty in the property attachment case.
