The AIADMK was closely allied to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. Political commentators opined that AIADMK was functioning like another branch organisation of the BJP.

The history of the past is that if there is a problem within the AIADMK, like a state unit, the party leaders go to the Delhi BJP leadership and complain and wait for a solution.

The cause of the problem was Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai’s categorical statement that Edappadi Palaniswami could not be accepted as the chief ministerial candidate. For Edappadi Palaniswami, who took over the post of AIADMK General Secretary after a great struggle, this position of the BJP has become somewhat unbearable. Due to this, the AIADMK has come to the firm conclusion that there is no need for an alliance with the BJP.

2019 Lok Sabha Elections, 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections AIADMK jointly with BJP Due to this, the votes of Muslims did not fall even a little to AIADMK. Not sticking with the BJP now, AIADMK has declared that there is no relationship. However, the Muslims cannot be immediately diverted to the AIADMK.

Steps have been taken to increase the number of Muslim parties supporting the AIADMK. AIADMK is planning a plan for the next steps to put pressure on the DMK government, especially on the issue of Muslim prisoners. A large number of Muslim organisations want the parties to join them in carrying out such a struggle.
