As the language separation of states became a reality, today is celebrated as ‘Tamil Nadu Day’ in the entire state. On this occasion, special events are being organized in schools to promote the uniqueness of Tamil culture, art, and heritage.

On November 1, 1956, the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala were carved out from the Madras State, where Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam were spoken. To commemorate this, November 1st is now celebrated as Tamil Nadu Day following a recent government directive.

On this day, we remember and pay tribute to leaders like Annadurai, who played a key role in naming the state ‘Tamil Nadu’ and the sacrifices made by leaders like Sankaralinganar for this cause, which elevated the cultural identity of the Tamil people on the global stage.
