Trouble for Edappadi Palanisamy! Chennai High Court directs continuation of investigation in K C Palanisamy case
Chennai High Court, rejecting the discharge order issued by the magistrate court and continuing the investigation of the Ex MLA MP. K C Palanisamy in a corruption case, has directed the further proceedings.
The opposition party, the AIADMK, alleged that former MLA M.P. K C Palanisamy, who was a member of the party, had violated the law by offering bribes and collecting money, against which the AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palanisamy filed a legal complaint in Chennai High Court.
In this case, stating that his opinions about himself would tarnish his reputation and image, Edappadi Palanisamy appealed to dismiss the charges against him in the corruption case in the Chennai George Town Court, where K C Palanisamy faced the trial.
The court had deferred the pronouncement of its verdict on the dismissal of Edappadi Palanisamy’s plea since August. Terming the court’s decision to dismiss this plea and continue the inquiry into K C Palanisamy’s case as wrong, he filed a fresh petition in the Chennai High Court.
When this petition was heard by Justice G. Jayachandran, considering all the evidence against K C Palanisamy’s case that had been dismissed, the decision to dismiss the case against him was deemed incorrect.
It was argued that removing K C Palanisamy as a party functionary from the AIADMK, followed by actions to obstruct his association with the party and not allowing his opinions to be expressed, were unjustified.
The court had previously directed the Chennai High Court to dismiss the case without specifying a date for the verdict on the case related to K C Palanisamy’s removal from the party and the evidence against Edappadi Palanisamy. However, Edappadi Palanisamy did not appeal to dismiss the evidence against him.
In today’s ruling, Justice Jayachandran dismissed the case against K C Palanisamy, continuing the investigation into the corruption case that opposed Edappadi Palanisamy. Furthermore, George Town Magistrate’s Court was directed by Justice Jayachandran to continue conducting proceedings in the ongoing case against Edappadi Palanisamy.”
