In the murder case of a girl in Puducherry’s Muthialpet, two people have been arrested. Earlier, there had been fierce clashes in many places, demanding strict action against the murderers.
The second daughter of the couple who joined the Muthialpet area in Puducherry is 9 years old. She studied in the 5th grade at a government school. Meanwhile, on the 2nd of last month, in the afternoon, the girl disappeared while playing outside her house. The worried family and relatives searched in many places but couldn’t find her. Disturbed parents complained to the Muthialpet police station. The police registered a case and searched for the girl with CCTV footage available in that area. However, no information was found.
The family and relatives, along with the police, have searched the surrounding areas since the 4th of the month, when the girl went missing. Suspecting a few people over the age of 20, the police interrogated them intensively. Yet, no clues were found.
In this situation, a policeman went to the spot where a dead body was found in a sewage canal between Ambethkar Street and Kannadasan Street in the Muthialpet area of Solaikadai. He discovered it and immediately called for backup. The policeman realised that the girl’s hands and legs were tied, and her body was wrapped in a sack and dumped in the sewage canal.
After this, the police sent the girl’s body for post-mortem examination to the Government Medical College Hospital for a thorough investigation. In the initial investigation by the police, it was revealed that the girl had been murdered and dumped in the sewage canal.
Meanwhile, the family and relatives of the girl, who suspected foul play and suspected the police, who had been searching intensively, protested against the police and demanded immediate action. They protested on the road near the canal, stating that the police should be held accountable. The relatives of the girl continued their protest even when the police tried to pacify them.
Subsequently, they entered the police station and clashed with the police. Further, they barged into the police station, confronting the police officers. After a while, they were allowed into the police station. They continued to argue with the police officers.
Later, they entered the police station. The police officers tried to pacify them by offering to talk. Yet, the relatives of the girl continued their protest.
In the midst of the protests, five women students of the Law College in Kadirai started a protest demanding the withdrawal of police personnel who had been sent to arrest the culprits. They demanded that the culprits be arrested and brought to justice. At that time, Prime Minister Rangasamy also visited the Law College. However, the police arrested the female students. But the women continued their protest.
Meanwhile, students and youth from various places, including Pattanur in Vanur, protested by diving into the sea and demonstrating. The police dispersed them with lathis. Such protests took place in many places.
Later, Dravidar Kazhagam leader Manikai approached the Superintendent of Police, Malikai Nooki, and sought permission to hold a protest. Following this, they protested near Bharathi Punga. They blocked the road and protested. Similarly, many protests took place in various parts of Puducherry.
At this point, the girl’s father and relatives met the Chief Minister, Rangasamy. They demanded stringent action against the murderers until they were arrested. The parents said they would not take back the girl’s body until the police arrested the culprits. They protested near the statue of C.R. Sivaji located near the New Bus Stand and engaged in a struggle against the police station before clashing with them. After that, they left for the police station, raising slogans.
The Chief Minister, Rangasamy, visited the Law College and met the female students. He assured them that the police would take appropriate action and that the culprits would be brought to justice. After this assurance, the girls continued their protest.
