\nThe Madras High Court has expressed its displeasure over the remarks made by Udhayanidhi Stalin in connection with the contempt case related to the Sanadhanam issue, stating, \u2018Are you unaware of the consequences of your words? You are not an ordinary person, but a minister.\u2019<\/p>\n

Udhayanidhi Stalin, who addressed the media during the condolence meeting organised by the Tamil Nadu Journalists’ Association as part of the protest organised by the Sanadhanam Movement in Chennai, said, \u2018The head of this meeting is very special. Instead of calling it a \u2018Sanadhanam protest meeting,\u2019 you are calling it a \u2018Sanadhanam surrender meeting.\u2019 Congratulations on that. We must avoid some things. We cannot oppose. Cough, dengue fever, malaria, and corona\u2014we should not oppose any of these. We must surrender. That is what this Sanadhanam is about. Rather than opposing Sanadhanam, surrendering is what we must do first,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

Various cases were filed in different states against Udhayanidhi’s speech. Consequently, the Madras High Court ordered all cases filed against Udhayanidhi in the High Court to be combined and heard in one place.<\/p>\n

The inquiry into this case took place in the High Court. At that time, it was announced in the High Court that \u2018I am aware of the consequences of what I said. There are cases in various high courts in six states. I cannot go to every state. But I am ready to face an inquiry at one common place. I am ready to face the inquiry\u2019 announced Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in the High Court.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the High Court expressed strong displeasure over the remarks made by Minister Udhayanidhi in the contempt case. The verdict delivered by the judges who heard Udhayanidhi’s speech in the inquiry, Justices Sanjib Banerjee and Deepankar Datta, included, \u2018You are misusing your rights under Section 19(1)(a) of the Constitution. You are abusing your rights under Section 25 of the Constitution. By misusing freedom of speech, you have come to the court demanding protection.\u2019<\/p>\n

In connection with the Sanadhanam issue, are you unaware of the consequences of your words? You are not an ordinary person, but a minister. As a minister, you must pay attention to your words. You must understand the consequences of the remarks you make,\u2019 stated the judges.<\/p>\n
