Migjam: 8,000 cubic feet of water released from Chembarambakkam lake – Big flood in Adyar river!


The water level in Chembarambakkam lake has reached 22 feet, and 8,000 cubic feet of water is being released from the lake into the Adyar river. This is due to the continuous heavy rains caused by the Migjam cyclone.

The Migjam cyclone is centered near Chennai. The cyclone has caused incessant heavy rains in Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Kanchipuram districts. These districts are experiencing the heaviest rains in 47 years since 1976.

As a result, the water level in Chembarambakkam lake has reached 22 feet. The total capacity of the lake is 24 feet. The lake is being emptied to prevent it from overflowing.

Today morning, 3,000 cubic feet of water was released from Chembarambakkam lake into the Adyar river. This was followed by the release of 6,000 cubic feet of water.

Currently, 8,000 cubic feet of water is being released from Chembarambakkam lake into the Adyar river. This has caused a big flood in the Adyar river. People living on the banks of the Adyar river in Chennai have been warned to be on the alert.

The city of Chennai is already submerged in floodwaters due to the heavy rains. The flood in the Adyar river is likely to cause further damage.

Officials have said that the water level in Chembarambakkam lake is likely to continue to rise. They have also said that the amount of water released from the lake could be increased to more than 8,000 cubic feet.
