Income Tax Department Probes Tamil Nadu Minister EV Velu’s Medical College


Tiruvannamalai: Income tax department officials on Wednesday conducted a search at the Arunai Medical College in Tiruvannamalai, which is owned by Tamil Nadu Minister EV Velu.

Six income tax officials arrived at the hospital office and conducted the search.

While the income tax department officials were conducting the search, over 20 police personnel were deployed for security at the medical college campus.

In connection with a tax evasion complaint, income tax department officials had conducted searches at places linked to Minister EV Velu from November 3 to 9, for a total of six days.

The search was conducted at places linked to the minister in Chennai, including the office of the Abbaiah Real Estate Company in T.Nagar and the office of the Casa Grande. Similarly, searches were conducted at the homes of contractors and financiers in the public works department. It is said that the search, which lasted for six days, ended yesterday, and that important documents, digital data, cash, and jewelry were seized.

In this context, it is said that the search being conducted today may be based on missing documents or documents already obtained.
